Code of Ethics

Becoming a medical assistant is far more than mastering clinical skills or administrative tasks; it is a commitment to a profound moral obligation. The Code of Ethics and Creed of the New Mexico Society of Medical Assistants (NMSMA) do not merely outline rules of conduct—they define the very soul of the profession. By adopting these standards, a medical assistant transforms from a simple employee into a guardian of patient trust, a pillar of community well-being, and a lifelong student of the healing arts. This document serves as both a shield for the vulnerable and a compass for the professional, guiding every interaction with compassion, courage, and an unwavering respect for human dignity.
