Membership Dues

Annual membership dues for the NMSMA are established by the House of Delegates and vary according to the specific class of membership. Active, associate, and affiliate members are assessed full dues, while sustaining members are responsible for only one-half of the standard amount, and life or honorary members are exempt from payment entirely. International and student members are also assessed dues, though the specific rates are determined separately. All dues become payable on November 1 and are considered delinquent if not postmarked or electronically submitted to the AAMA Executive Office by December 31, with the timestamp of sending serving as the controlling factor for timeliness. Furthermore, to accommodate late-year additions, dues for any new member joining on or after September 1 are automatically credited to the following year.

Dues Structure

The amount varies based on membership class:

  • Full Dues: Active, Associate, and Affiliate members.

  • One-Half Dues: Sustaining members.

  • No Dues: Life and Honorary members.

Key Deadlines

Due Date: November 1.

  • Delinquency Date: Dues are considered delinquent if not sent by December 31.

  • New Members: If you join on or after September 1, your dues are credited to the following year.

Note on Submission: The deadline is based on when the payment is sent (postmarked or submitted electronically), not when the AAMA Executive Office receives it.

Requirements for Leadership Roles

To serve as a Delegate, Alternate, Officer, or Trustee, you must meet strict payment deadlines:

  • Your dues must be postmarked or electronically submitted to the AAMA Executive Office by December 31.

  • Officers and Trustees must maintain active membership throughout their entire term.

Reciprocity

  • Transferring Members: Societies and Chapters must offer reciprocity to members transferring from other locations.

  • Proof Required: The member must provide proof of current AAMA membership status.
